The rally also included strong critiques of U.S. involvement in the region. One speaker condemned recent remarks by the U.S. Forces Korea commander, who reportedly referred to South Korea as a “fixed aircraft carrier”—a comment seen as reducing Korean sovereignty to a strategic pawn in great-power competition. Protesters expressed alarm at what they described as indirect U.S. support for authoritarian elements, particularly through military and diplomatic backing that emboldens far-right forces.
